Tee up and score at the best mini-golf spots in Edinburgh!
Ah, the memories of my husband and I hitting the mini golf course on our early dates. What a laugh we had trying to outdo each other! I’ll admit, I got a bit competitive, but that’s all part of the fun, isn’t it?
If you’re wondering whether mini golf makes for a cracking date, my answer is a big fat yes! But it’s not just for that. It’s also brilliant for corporate parties or group get-togethers.
So if you fancy giving it a go, here are my top mini-golf spots in Edinburgh!

Admission Fee: £8 per person
If you’re a big fan of all things retro, then a visit to Portal Mini Golf may just be your cup of tee. This 18-hole mini golf course is inspired by retro games and pop culture, so expect a lot of neon colours, movie references, and cool obstacle courses.
Some of the obstacle courses are a bit wild and challenging, but that only adds to the thrill and fun. Things start off very easy and then a little tricky towards the end—but don’t give up so easily!
Tips:
- Take lots of cool photos around the course and post them on your Instagram. Guests with the best and coolest photos will win a round of golf for FREE on their next visit! Just make sure to tag their Instagram page and give them a follow!
- There’s also a bowling area available for guests to use if you want to take a break from golf. You can access it if you reserve your slot for the course in advance!

Ask any local where they grew up playing mini golf, and Volcano Falls Adventure Golf is sure to come up. This jungle and Jurassic World-themed course is a throwback to childhood fun, complete with dinosaurs and rock sculptures scattered throughout.
The indoor course takes things up a notch with a moving T-Rex, iconic stone statues from around the globe, and animal sound effects. It’s like stepping into Jurassic World or an Indiana Jones adventure!
Tips:
- If you’re coming with a big group, I highly recommend booking a party package instead. Packages include meals from the tiki bar, drinks, and a round of golf starting at just £21 per person. You can learn more about their packages here.
- Need to take a breather from golf? You can book a round of interactive darts in the same venue! Each ticket gives you 30 minutes of playtime across several of the board’s themes and games. You can invite up to 6 players per lane!
Lane7

Address: Saint James Square
Contact Details: +44 131 373 0003
Operating Hours:
Monday, 11:00 am to 1:00 am
Tuesday to Thursday, 11:00 am to 12:00 am
Friday to Sunday, 10:00 am to 1:00 am
Admission Fee: Starts at £20 per person
While Lane7 is more known as a bowling alley, it also offers a plethora of fun games and activities including indoor mini golf! The arena even lets you play while you drink and eat with your friends (which is honestly a great combo for a night out!).
The course features lots of neon-coloured obstacle courses ranging from very easy to somewhat difficult (in my opinion, VERY difficult). There’s enough thrill to keep you on your toes here, so I recommend bringing mates who have good aim.
Tips:
- I highly recommend getting the Bar then PAR package or the Icebreaker Golf if you want to save money for more bar chow. The two packages come with a drink and one round of golf for each person in your group!
- Note that there is no specific time limit when you play golf here. Each course has its own set of rules and gimmicks, so take your time reading through them!
