These 5 coworking spaces in Edinburgh are changing the remote work game for me!

Amenities and Facilities: I selected spaces that feature comfortable seating, clean desks, plenty of sockets, and a welcoming atmosphere designed to foster focus and productivity.

Range of Packages: I selected spaces that offer a wide range of package or membership options. I also included spaces that offer long-term packages for start-ups and businesses as well as day passes for hotdesking.

Location and Convenience: I opted for spaces that are located centrally, close to public transport, and easy to find within the city. I also included spaces that are open 24/7.

Affordability: I selected spaces that offer reasonable rates within the city’s average.

I love working remotely. It gives me the flexibility to strike a better work-life balance. That said, while I sometimes miss the buzz of working in a big company, sitting at my home desk can occasionally drain my creativity and productivity.

That’s why I turn to coworking spaces for a much-needed mental refresh. They offer all the perks of a proper office—fast Wi-Fi, unlimited snacks, coffee, tea, comfy desks, and just the right amount of background buzz to keep me motivated!

If you’re a remote worker like me searching for a space to supercharge your productivity, here are the best coworking spaces in Edinburgh that I’ve personally tried and loved!

How much do coworking spaces cost in Edinburgh?

In Edinburgh, expect to pay around £12 to £25 for a day pass in a coworking space. Weekly passes cost about £30 to £50, and monthly passes cost about £150 to £350.

Prices vary based on your company size, the number of meeting rooms you need, and the range of amenities the space offers.

1. The Nexus Room

What I love most about The Nexus Room is its 24/7 access. Whether I need to tackle late-night work or finish a project after hours, I can always count on this cosy, secure space to keep me productive.

Memberships are flexible, with weekly options starting at £80 and monthly plans at £260. Alongside a dedicated desk, you’ll enjoy unlimited tea, coffee, and snacks like cereal—perfect for those much-needed energy boosts.

They also provide handy office amenities like a printer and scanner, which are great for day-to-day tasks.

That said, The Nexus Room isn’t the cheapest coworking space, and they don’t offer day passes. If you’re unsure, I’d recommend taking advantage of their free tour to see if it suits your needs.

With just less than 10 desks, the space feels private but fills up quickly. And while it’s a fantastic spot for focused work, you may need alternatives for private meetings.

Pros

  • Open 24/7
  • Great location
  • Free refreshments

Cons

  • Hard to book
  • Limited privacy

Very comfortable and peaceful working environment

“I used this office on a Friday, having tried 3-4 other co-working offices including WeWork. This is a very small office, 8 desks maybe but easily the best I’ve used. Super fast internet speed, 4-5 times faster than the other venues. Very comfortable office chairs and a peaceful working environment. I’d really recommend.”

A space that makes you feel at home

“I was here to avoid the bad hotel wifi and being hunched over my desk in my single room in my hotel up the road in Haymarket. I hesitated at first because I wasn’t sure about sharing a co-working space since I normally work from home in Portugal with no background noise or distractions. In the end my decision to go and work from the space paid off! Calum welcomed me and I felt at ease in space. It is small, calm and with super fast wifi which reduced my stress levels not having to deal with hotel wifi where the connection would stop at a moments notice.”

Jamaica Yard has quickly become one of the most sought-after event spaces in town, and it’s easy to see why. By day, it’s a sleek coworking hub with thoughtfully designed rooms, and by night, it transforms into a vibrant social enclave!

The standout spaces include The Common Room, The White Space, The Green Room, and The Vaults—all designed to inspire productivity.

As someone who needs to focus on power through tasks, I find these rooms well-equipped with comfortable desks, ample sockets, and stylish seating.

However, it’s worth noting that Jamaica Yard thrives on energy and collaboration, so expect a lively atmosphere with meetings, events and laptops humming. If background buzz isn’t your thing, this might not be your ideal spot.

Thankfully, they offer trial days so you can test the waters before committing. Day passes start at £30, and longer-term bookings may come with discounts which is great for larger teams!

Pros

  • Wide range of rooms
  • Offers trial days
  • Best for large groups

Cons

  • Relatively pricey
    Loud atmosphere

Absolutely beautiful coworking space

“Had no idea about this place until I attended for an event, but what a lovely space it is! Decorated absolutely beautifully inside and just gives off a calming atmosphere! Would recommend this place as a coworking or events space!”

Strategically organised

“I needed to join a co-working space and gym for one month, and Jamaica Yard was so accommodating to me and made me feel right at home during my month in Newtown this August! The space is beautifully decorated. I was impressed at how they arranged the space: the square footage isn’t massive, but it’s strategically organized so you always can find a private or quiet area, even if someone is on a call nearby. It was also extremely easy to book private call space if you had an important meeting”

The space feels like a wee haven in the city, with private nooks, breakout areas, meeting rooms, and standing desks. The kitchen offers complimentary drinks, and the Wi-Fi is perfect for busy Zoom days.

It stands out with extras like printers, 24-hour access, and storage, plus networking events for connecting with others. Note that non-members (hotdesking) don’t get 24/7 access as well as entry on weekends.

And here’s a bonus for us Scots—it’s pet-friendly! Whether you’re bringing your laptop or your dog, you’re sorted. I recommend booking a tour here first to get a good feel of the space before booking.

  • Offers 4/7 access

Cons

  • Early closure for non-members
  • Closed on weekends for non-members

Lovely team and community

“Our company was born and bred at The Melting Pot. We stayed for five years before we eventually moved to an office of our own. Lovely team and community – not just a co-working space.”

Affordable, flexible, and creative environment

“I’ve been a member of TMP for over five years and I love it. It offers the best of a workplace with none of the negatives. I respect my fellow potters for the people they are and the work they do. TMP is affordable, flexible and the environment is pleasant and creative. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sociable workspace.”

If you or someone you know is starting a wee start-up and hunting for a homey office to nurture your budding business, I’d wholeheartedly recommend CodeBase.

This coworking gem offers private meeting rooms, video call booths, hotdesks, and an event space perfect for corporate or social gatherings. While private rooms and coworking areas boast 24/7 access, hotdesking is limited to operating hours, so plan accordingly.

The monthly coworking fee starts at £270, while private rooms are charged per square metre—ideal if your team is growing. For those on a tighter budget, the coworking tables are a solid option. Just know you’ll sacrifice a bit of privacy.

Though private rooms can be a bit steep, it’s a cracking space with everything you need to get your business off the ground. Whether it’s hotdesking or a full-on private setup, CodeBase has a space to fit your needs.

Pros

  • Best for start-ups
  • Offers video call booths

Cons

  • Charges per square metre

Great place for coworking

“Great place for coworking, slap bang in the middle of Edinburgh. Very reasonable day rate, and really friendly staff. Highly recommended to any startup folk passing through..”

– Josh Kopecek, Google Review

Good place for the community to come together

“Great location that has a wide range of community events. Hotdesking and office rental keep the lights on but with some great public and private occasions its a good place for the community to come together.”

Evergreen Coworking Studio offers a wee slice of charm in the heart of the city. It’s a stone’s throw from Waverley Station and right on the path of handy bus routes, making it a doddle to get to.

With only eight desks, it’s a cosy setup, though you might need to be quick to nab a spot during peak times. Thankfully, meeting rooms are included in the membership and can be booked through their nifty 24/7 online system—brilliant for staying organised.

The kitchenette is kitted out with a microwave, fridge, kettle, and a French press, and the free coffee, tea, and milk will keep your cup brimming all day. There’s also a printer, scanner, and storage options, plus you can register your business here—ideal for small ventures.

Best of all, the outdoor terrace offers a breath of fresh air when you need to clear your head.

The only snag? There’s just one fixed-price membership plan, so you’ll pay the same no matter how much you use the space.
