The 5 best goldsmiths in Edinburgh will have you sold on treasures you can wear!
With a family to take care of, I don’t often treat myself these days, but a little something special every now and then really lifts the spirits. One of the best gifts I’ve received was a custom gold necklace from my husband, with our names engraved on the pendant.
Sure, gold might not come cheap, but it’s the kind of indulgence that can instantly brighten a tired mum’s day! They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but honestly, a shiny gold bangle, ring, necklace, or brooch can really boost our mood.
So, if you’re looking to make someone feel extra special today (or maybe even spoil yourself), here’s a list of the best goldsmiths in Edinburgh you can count on to create something truly stunning!
How much do goldsmiths charge in Edinburgh?
In Edinburgh, the cost of a bespoke gold piece typically ranges from £500 to £1,200 for 14 to 18-carat designs, climbing to over £2,000 for 21 to 24-carat creations.
Keep in mind that gold prices fluctuate, and the per-gram value may vary between shops.
Prices may also vary depending on the size, weight, carat, and complexity of the design. Add-ons like precious stones also contribute to the fluctuating prices.
1. Daniel Henderson Jewellers

Address: 188 Rose St
Phone: +441314661745
Business hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 am to 5:30 pm
Daniel Henderson Jewellers, founded in 2011, is a gem of a place right here in Scotland. After perfecting his craft at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and training with De Beers in London, Daniel brought his passion for fine jewellery back home to create engagement and wedding rings that sparkled with Scottish charm.
Working with the finest diamonds and precious metals like gold, they offer timeless designs and bespoke creations.
Booking? A simple phone call—it’s that warm, old-school hospitality we Scots love. Their no-obligation fitting service means you can try your piece on, just to make sure it feels right.
The staff are stars—patient, professional, and happy to answer even the daftest questions. With engraving, resizing, and polishing all under one roof, it’s a handy one-stop shop.
I was a bit iffy about the delay in getting my order back and the pricier-than-expected quote for resizing, but the end result? Totally worth it!
Absolute master of his craft
“Daniel is an absolute master of his craft. His rings really stand out from the crowd – the engagement ring we chose was exquisitely delicate in a way I hadn’t seen with other jewellers.
He’s also friendly, helpful, and down-to-earth, which was a huge bonus at an overwhelming time! Any questions we had, he answered, and is quick to respond online. We also worked with Sarah who was equally lovely and helpful!”

Brilliant to work with
“Cannot say enough good things about Daniel Henderson Jewellery! My fiancé and I had been working with a different jeweller previously but had been, unfortunately, let down. I spotted a ring on Dan’s website that I adored, dropped him a message, and arranged to visit the shop. After a bit of discussion (including changing the metal from platinum to yellow gold) I ended up with exactly what I’d been looking for – I thought I was being too fussy!
From start to finish, Dan was brilliant to deal with – no question was daft, and I now have my dream ring. And he’s given us great ideas for wedding rings – we’ll be back!”

Fair and thorough, their valuations are top-notch. My mum had her engagement ring appraised and was thrilled to discover it was worth more than she’d imagined!
Their collection leans heavily towards vintage designs, though they also offer a curated selection of modern rings, priced between £1,700 and £3,500.
For something truly special, consider allowing them to melt and forge a new gold ring or pendant out of your old gold jewellery. They’ll turn something old into something completely unrecognisable!
Master craftsmen
“I cannot praise this craftsman too highly: he’s great. And I applaud his Can Do attitude.

Strategically organised
“I had a hand made Egyptian Ankh created for me, from a collection of old gold items I had in a drawer.
It’s beautifully made and to my exact specifications.
As I had the gold it wasn’t too pricey to have it refashioned into something I love, rather than items I didn’t wear any more.”

3. Jude Smith Goldsmith

Address: Lochend Rd
Phone: +44 131 467 7708
Business hours:
Monday to Friday, 11:00 am to 8:00 pm
Saturday, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
Jude Smith Goldsmith is a gem of a place if you’re looking to restore or refurbish gold scraps and old jewellery. They handle all sorts of commissions, including stone replacement, metal cutting, gilding, photo acid etching, laser welding, and reworking donor materials.
In my experience, they’re among the best for general metal adjustments and resizing. When my husband needed his gold wedding band resized, the process was thorough and smooth.
Jude Smith didn’t just do the resizing. They also discussed ways to enhance the band’s comfort and longevity, offering excellent aftercare advice.
In the end, my husband decided to add a small stone to the band, and the result was stunning. The process wasn’t quick, though; we had to wait for updates and return for fittings.
But the goldsmiths’ commitment to getting the sizing perfect and ensuring satisfaction made the wait worthwhile. Truly, craftsmanship done right!
Amazing results
“Jude is absolutely the best, I couldn’t have wish for anyone better! We got in contact the first time for checking my engagement ring as it was bought in a vintage shop. She was amazing her preparation and the way she can explain all about jewellery are astonishing! Second time we had to go back because the stone fell – as she predicted. She restored it, fix the stone with some adjustments.. and the result is just amazing! I love it, thank you Jude.”

Knowledgeable and skilled goldsmith
“Jude is such an enthusiastic and lovely person, it was a pleasure to meet her. As my bracelet is not pure silver and has more an emotional value I wasn’t sure if it would be possible to get it repaired but Jude took good care of it and honestly saved the day in no time. You can tell that she is very knowledgeable and care about what she is doing, I will honestly recommend her to anyone and will go back if I need her help! Thank you again Jude!”

Welcoming and friendly environment
“I purchased an engagement ring from ROX. I was fortunate to go through the process with Giulia (Senior Sales Consultant). ROX sourced the diamonds, created the setting and band in accordance with my description. Giulia is a credit to the ROX organisation and I would like pass on my gratitude for all the help Giulia gave myself.”

Helpful staff
“We can not recommend Rox and Amy enough! We came in to choose our wedding bands and the staff were so welcoming and friendly as soon as you entered the door- they put you at ease straight away. We had booked an appointment beforehand and Amy had looked into our details and was prepared by having rings ready we might like and in our sizes. She was so patient with us as my partner didn’t know what type of wedding band he wanted. She was so helpful and made the experience so enjoyable and pleasant. We even found out you can get your wedding bands engraved which we are very excited about and makes it that bit more special. Thank you so much Amy for the wonderful positive experience”
