A Dog Lover’s 5 Best Dog Grooming Spas in Edinburgh That’ll Pamper Your Pup!

Proven track record: I selected dog groomers with a minimum of 10 years' experience, ensuring they have strong pet handling skills and are well-versed in working with a variety of breeds and coat types.

Service range: I selected spas that provide an extensive range of services, including bathing, trimming, nail clipping, teeth cleaning, de-matting, and beyond. The broader the selection of treatments, the better.

Facilities and equipment: I selected dog spas with well-maintained, spotless work areas and grooming equipment that’s consistently kept current.

Rates: I selected dog spas that provide reasonable prices, based on a comparison of local rates and an evaluation of whether their service quality justifies the expense.

I come from a long line of dog lovers. I can’t remember a summer growing up without a wee pup by my side. My parents, uncles, aunts, brother, and sister all have their own furry ones, some adopted, some they’ve had since they were bairns themselves.

Now, one thing every true dog lover knows is that a good grooming or spa session is an absolute must. I like to think my dog’s the most pampered pooch in the family. After all, I’m as fussy as a Highlander when it comes to his haircut, from his tail to his paws!

If you’re a dog owner and are looking for the best dog grooming spas in Edinburgh for your pup, here are my top recommendations!

How much do dog grooming spas in Edinburgh cost?

Dog grooming spas typically charge between £35 and £50 for a full groom, with extra services such as nail trimming, bathing, and teeth brushing ranging from £15 to £25.

Prices may vary based on your pet’s breed, size, and coat type. Generally, the larger your dog, the higher the cost!

Urban Tails Dog Grooming is a delightful gem, blending a barbershop for humans and a grooming salon for dogs. It’s a clever concept I couldn’t wait to try for my furry friend!

Their team specialises in Kennel Club cuts and creative styles, tailoring each groom to suit your dog’s unique look. I appreciated the initial chat, where they asked about my preferences and my pup’s needs—so personal and thoughtful.

What truly impressed me was how lovingly they handled my dog. The groomer’s gentle touch and cheery chat kept her calm and happy. It wasn’t just grooming; it was a pampering session, complete with cuddles!

They even offer designer pet colognes, so I snagged one. It’s subtle and fresh, perfect for my pooch.

Just note that they’re a cash-only business and are closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Sundays. But for the care and charm they bring, it’s worth every effort!

Pros

  • Uses designer pet colognes
  • Best for Kennel Club styles

Cons

  • Cash only
  • Only open 4 days a week

“Will is an excellent groomer had my little dog buddy in on Wednesday for the first time since I had him. He suffers from anxiety and will made the experience easier for buddy”

Always accommodates your needs

“I started taking my dog here last year and I love lots of things about this place!! The owner is so lovely and smooth with how he interacts with dogs and always very easy to talk to. His work is excellent and that is why we are returning to this place despite having moved to a different city nearby. He always accommodates our needs by keeping our dog longer when we are to pick her up if for instance smth comes up or we are stuck in traffic.”

Attentive and gentle groomers

“My Cockapoo has been groomed here since she was a puppy and loves it. The owners are so helpful, kind and always carry out your instructions. They clearly love their job and dogs and are continually learning and participating in competitions. Excellent groomers.”

Welcomes you and your dog any time

“The gents running this place are very kind and lovely. I stumbled on this shop at almost 7pm on a weeknight, desperately needing a bathroom. Despite the shop being closed and the gents caring for their own unwell dog, they didn’t hesitate to let me use their bathroom. Thanks again guys, and I hope your little girl is feeling better soon.”

Christine’s Dog Grooming Parlour has been a trusted name in dog care for over 50 years—and a family favourite of ours.

My parents have known the groomers for years and brought several of our furry friends there. One reason for their loyalty is Christine’s exceptional care for dogs with behavioural issues.

The team is skilled at handling anxious pups, offering plenty of reassurance and patience to ensure they feel comfortable. Grooming a nervous dog can be tricky, but they make it look effortless.

My mum especially loves their generosity. They’re one of the few groomers offering free services for guide dogs. Their process includes a consultation, bath, haircut, and nail trim, all done with great care.

However, they mainly cater to small and medium dogs, and bookings fill quickly since they’re open just four days a week. Plan ahead to treat your pup to Christine’s exceptional service!

I first met Shennan a few years ago when I brought my pup in for his first groom. He’s grown a fair bit since, but I still take him to Shennan’s Little Angels Dog Grooming Salon for regular sprucing up.

With over 20 years of experience, Shennan handles all kinds of dogs—big or small, scruffy or smooth. Whether it’s a basic wash or full trim, facial, or conditioning, she’s spot on.

These days, I mainly bring my dog for the Emmi Pet Teeth Service, which has worked wonders on his teeth, especially with his treat-loving ways!

For some extra pampering, Little Angels offers add-ons like nose and paw wax, hydrating conditioners, and tear stain solutions to keep your dog feeling fresh.

Prices start at £35 for small dogs, going up to £60 for larger breeds.

Be sure to book in advance with a deposit and pick up your dog within 20 minutes to avoid late fees. They’re closed on weekends, so plan ahead!

Pros

  • Best for dental care
  • Offers lots of add-ons

Cons

  • Limited availability
  • Has late fee

Clients are happy with the results

“I can’t recommend Shennan and the team at Little Angels enough. Our pup has severe separation anxiety which meant leaving him at the previous groomers had been impossible. We did a short meet and greet with Shennan before the groom, which really gave us confidence we’d found the right groomer and booked in for the following week. Whilst he was anxious when we dropped him off, the whole drop off process worked really well in minimising that. When we returned an hour and a half or so later, we couldn’t have been more delighted with the outcome. Having returned several times since (photos of the latest groom attached) he’s been more and more comfortable and now pulls at the lead to get inside when he gets to the door. If you have a nervous pup or one with separation anxiety and/or needs a groomer who genuinely cares about offering a more tailored experience, I can’t recommend them highly enough.”

Your baby leaves so soft and freshly groomed

“Little Angels are so friendly and caring especially with my 8 month old puppy. Shennan spent a lot of time making sure my dog was comfortable throughout his first groom. Shennan listened to how I would like my dog cut and also advised me on what would be best. My boy was so soft and smelt so fresh for days after his groom! Thank you Little Angels. X”

Although Dofos Pet Centre and Dog Grooming is mostly known for its pet supplies, I’ve had plenty of pals singing their praises when it comes to their grooming services. What really sets them apart is how easy they are to get to.

With multiple branches across the city, you’re never far from top-notch care. And if your usual spot is fully booked, no sweat. Thanks to their wide network of groomers, they’ll get you in at another branch quicker than you can say “fetch.”

From bath-only treatments and puppy grooming to full grooms for both short and long-haired dogs (wash, trim, blow dry, and ear cleaning), they’ve got it all.

Fancy a hand stripping? It’ll set you back around £90, though that doesn’t include a bath.

Prices start at £17 for a quick trim, and their full grooms with haircuts are solid value for money.

Pros

  • Multiple branches
  • Wide range of services

Cons

  • Pricey

Super reasonable prices

“I popped in today looking for Christmas pressies and advice for my own dog and I could not recommend Dofos more. The sales associate spent lots of time with me and gave great recommendations. It is amazing to have such a reasonably priced independent pet shop who really care about their customers!”

Very eco-friendly

“Very eco friendly which is great and the staff were lovely. Has all the food and accessories essentials. They even do dog tag engraving.”
